Having your U.S. visa stamped in Mexico is an excellent alternative to going back to your home country. You can save time and money by visiting any of the 10 U.S. Consulates in Mexico! This page is designed to help you understand the process involved, breaking it down step-by-step.
STEP 1. Determine your eligibility for visa stamping in Mexico.
You should consult with your attorney or international advisor to determine whether or not you are eligible for stamping in Mexico.
We are NOT attorneys and can not give you legal advice on your case. Please keep in mind that every person's case is different from the next. Just because things have been going well for everyone before you, doesn't mean that things will go well for you and vice-versa.
You can proceed to step 2, once you have determined you are eligible for stamping in Mexico.
STEP 2. Decide on which location you'd like to visit for U.S. visa stamping in Mexico.
You should consider the costs involved in visiting different locations, airfare rates, hotel accommodations, and logistics prior to deciding on a location. USVISAMEX offers hotel and transportation assistance for the U.S. consulate in Matamoros and Tijuana.

STEP 3. Fill out your DS-160 application.
You will need to fill out and complete your DS-160 application to begin the process of applying for a U.S. visa at any U.S. consulate in Mexico (you may be able to generate the MRV Payment Instructions once you begin filling and before completing the DS-160 to speed up the process).
You will then need to generate the MRV Payment Instructions that contains the PIN, payment expiration date, and amount in Pesos that is needed to pay at the bank. Pay Visa Fee ----> Select Cash Option

TIPS:
Please complete both steps 1 & 2 at the same time if you intend to utlize our service to pay your U.S. visa fee to avoid delays in processing. All payments and requests are processed on the same business day if everything is received by 7:00 A.M. CST. All payments and requests arriving after will be processed on the following business day excluding Mexican Holidays.
STEP 5. Book your ASC and USC dates.
You will need to book separate dates for the ASC (fingerprinting and photograph appointment) and USC (US consulate interview).
Some ASC/USC dates may have a gap of one or two days depending on holidays etc. Choose the dates that work best with your schedule. It is not uncommon for folks to book the ASC on Friday/Saturday, then USC on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, depending on availability.
We suggest to keep checking back if you are not finding the dates you are looking for. Worst-case scenario, you will need to select a different U.S. consulate location in Mexico. You will not need to pay the U.S. Visa Application Fee if you change locations.
STEP 6. Prepare your travel arrangements to the destination of your choice.
Travel by Air - It is best to arrive the night before your ASC appointment and book your return flight on the day after your USC appointment, taking the last flight out. This should give you ample time to return or make adjustments in your travel depending on the visa issuance timing.
Travel by land - It is best to arrive the night before your ASC appointment, however, you can also choose to arrive in the early morning by 7:00 A.M. on the same day as your ASC appointment.

STEP 7. Appear for ASC Interview.
We will pick you up at the hotel in Brownsville, Texas or Matamoros, Tamaulipas (depending on which package you selected) and take you to your ASC appointment.
This process usually takes 15-20 minutes. Your fingerprints and photograph will be taken here. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment. There can be delays at ASC if and when there are a large number of Mexican Nationals going for fingerprinting/photograph. It is not uncommon to find 50-200 Mexican H2 visa applicants going for ASC interview. This will extend the process for up to 1-2 hours.
STEP 8. Appear for USC Interview.
This process usually takes 1-3 hours, depending on how many applicants are present. The officer will tell you when to return to pick the passport up after completing the interview.
STEP 9. Passport Pick Up
You will need to return to the U.S. consulate to receive the stamped passport. Make sure everything is correct before departing the consulate. Passport pick up time is usually 3:00 P.M. Passports are generally issued on the same day in Matamoros and the following business day in Tijuana.
STEP 10. I 94 Processing
This process usually takes 1-4 hours depending on traffic at the border. They will take your fingerprints once again and you'll have to pay $6.00 per I94 card issued.
Clients that have opted for the Full Service Packages will be provided with transportation from the U.S. Immigration office back to the hotel or airport in Brownsville, Texas.
